Death Valley

Starkly beautiful everywhere you look…and dangerously hot at certain times of the year. Fortunately, January, when we went, is fine.

Yosemite, the More Visited Part

What can I say? If you haven’t visited Yosemite, run, do not walk, do not pass go: just go.

And don’t forget the less visited part when you do.

Yosemite, the Less Visited Part

For this trip we didn’t go onto the valley floor. Which is what everyone thinks of as “Yosemite”…even though it’s only a tiny fraction of the park. Instead, we went to the Tuolumne Meadows region. Highly recommended!

Of course, you should stop by the more visited part, too :).

When in Rome…

You can hardly walk anywhere in the Eternal City without running into something of historical significance. Watch out for the pickpockets on the subway, though :).

Pacific Northwest

…and Mount St. Helens! Or what’s left of it, anyway.

The Real Northern California

I’ve always thought it funny people call the Bay Area “northern California” when it’s only halfway up the state. Probably the result of arrogance brought on by where the first major European settlements were and were the early population growth occurred.

The real northern California is spectacular. Click here to see an album on Google Photos from when we toured the northern coastal area.
