Coming Home

Beckwourth Pass (Day 4)

The ride home from Antioch/Bridgehead was beautiful! Pleasant temperatures throughout. Plus, I managed to miss all the traffic.

Starting out I realized I’d forgotten to turn on my Google Maps navigation for the route. “No problem!”, I thought. “I know this route well and studied it last night!”

After which I proceeded to go the wrong way on the first highway. Fortunately, I realized my mistake pretty quickly 🙂.

I do wish CalTrans had done a better job marking routes through the 680/84 reconstruction project they’re doing. Fortunately, I guessed right. Then again, 84 through Niles Canyon was posted as being closed due to construction, but in reality just had a one-lane section under flow control. So I guess things evened out 🙂.

I got a kick at the Whipple/Veterans light in Redwood City: a motorcycle officer gave me a high five as he turned past me. I think he was a Redwood City officer and not from CHP. That’s the first time I’ve been “acknowledged” by a motorcycle officer. Made for a nice end to the trip!
