California’s recently been the target of more than the usual number of atmospheric rivers and bomb cyclones. I thought it might be fun to share some observations from where we live (San Carlos) to document just what the weather’s been like:
A few reactions:
- San Carlos has a reputation for being breezy. The data shows this clearly: the air is almost always on the move, sometimes quite aggressively.
- While we’ve clearly borne the brunt of a number of hellacious rainstorms, there’s been a lot more general/low intensity precipitation than I thought.
- In fact, about half the total rainfall we’ve gotten was from periods where it was raining less than a tenth of an inch or so per hour.
