Whistler and Chalet Beau Sejour

Arthur and I did our second annual father/son skiing trip to Whistler, BC a few weeks ago. Unlike Tahoe at the time, Whistler had plenty of snow. Even better, it was pretty much all on the mountain and not on the roads :).

We had a great time skiing for two days (okay, we were both pretty sore by Saturday afternoon, which was the first day on the slopes for either of us this year). The conditions were even better on Sunday. Except for that one time when we came to the top of a black diamond connecting run that was shrouded in cloud — Whistler has a semi-permanent cloud deck halfway up the mountain — looked at each other, said “well, here’s hoping we see the turn onto the run we want before we hit something”, and took off. But we made it down okay. Several times.

Like last year we stayed at a B&B a short distance away from the slopes. For the small taxi fare and the slight inconvenience we got excellent accommodations and some wonderful hosts at the Chalet Beau Sejour. As an added benefit, Arthur enjoyed talking guitar smack with Hal, one of the co-owners. If you need a place to stay in Whistler, check it out. Just remember to leave time for some significant exercise because Sue cooks dynamite — and very complete — breakfasts!
